Considered as the city’s most anticipated time of the year, Kadayawan Festival is one of the reasons why tourists visit Davao.
Kadayawan is a yearly event in the city where the locals celebrate life and give thanks for a bountiful harvest. It is held every third week of August. This is also a perfect time for you to go on a vacation to the city as the weather will most likely be at its best.
So, what can you experience when you take part in the festival of festivals? You actually have a lot of choices but here are the more popular ones.
- Kadayawan Trade Fair and Bazaar. This is one of the few times of the year when food treats and some items are sold at a very low price. Make sure you take advantage of them when you visit Davao during the Kadayawan season.
- Street Party. If you feel young and just want to dance the night away on the streets, an EDM-loaded street party is for you! This has been a recent addition to Kadayawan to cater to the younger locals. Make sure you check when and where these street parties are.
- Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan & Pamulak Kadayawan. These parades showcase what we really celebrate during Kadayawan. When you visit Davao, make sure you watch the Indak-Indak parade featuring the ethnic tribes of Davao and their culture-rich dance. After that, a series of floral floats will follow. Your eyes will feast on how much flowers these floats use. Not only that, you will also be amazed at the creative design of these floats. This just proves that there really is a reason to celebrate.
