Development of Training Modules on Sustainable Interprofessional Bodies for Geographical Indication – and Conducting 4 Trainings in South-east Asia

We developed a training course in 8 modules, including theoretical approach and participatory exercises on the role, structures and economic model of Interprofessional bodies for Geographical Indications. The modules cover the: introduction to Geographical Indications, the value chain analysis, the various roles of the Interprofessional body: as a forum, as a management centre for specific quality, and as a center for the promotion of the GI) the business model (where the income will come from) and planning Achievements: The modules developed in three parts, the theory, the notes for the trainer and the group exercises 1 three case studies – this will be published in Spring 2016 by the FAO. School Gardens: a Tool for Education About Sustainable Food Systems

This interactive course contains several modules: an introduction about different ecological gardening methods, the specificities of school gardens, the concrete steps on how to set-up different forms of school gardens, practical work in the classroom or outside. The aim of this course is to enable teachers to set-up gardens that fit their particular contexts and that respond to their pedagogical needs. Indeed, a school garden that is well planned and integrated in the school program is a great tool for experimenting and discussing all aspects of a sustainable food system. Achievements: REDD is training teachers in French speaking Switzerland and is following the implementation of gardens in different schools. InterGI – A way Forward for Local Development

We have been organising, in collaboration with CIRAD, this flagship 2 week training course on Geographical Indication since 2007. The course covers all aspects of Geographical Indications (from identification, institutional frameworks, qualification, protection, the organisation and management of the specific quality). As an interactive training, importance is given to presentations, group work and field studies, to interact with the stakeholders of Swiss or French Geographical Indications.
